Pair released by police after fatal bridge crash

Police were called to Northam Bridge in the early hours of Saturday morning

Two people who were arrested over the death of a motorcyclist in a collision with a car have been released from custody.

A 17-year-old boy from Fareham died in hospital after he was injured on Northam Bridge, Southampton, at about 01:20 BST on Saturday.

A 29-year-old man from Southampton, who was arrested on suspicion of causing death by careless driving, has been released under investigation while inquiries continue, police said.

A 17-year-old from Southampton, who was in the VW Polo with him, has been told no further action will be taken against him.

Police have appealed for witnesses to the incident, which involved a white Yamaha YZF motorcycle.

Northam Bridge was closed for several hours following the crash.
