Man, 36, charged over threatening phone calls to elected representatives

A man has been charged with making threatening phone calls to elected representatives.

The 36-year-old man is charged with three counts of threatening communications under the Online Safety Act 2023 towards two local councillors.

Detectives from Newry, Mourne and Down CID were investigating the phones calls that were made in December 2025 and in February of this year.

He is due to appear at Newry Magistrates' Court on 3 June.
