'Iconic' Kate Bush flash mob dance returns

Dozens of Kate Bush fans are celebrating her most famous song, Wuthering Heights, with a recreation of the dance from the music video.

Dubbed "the most Wuthering Heights day ever", the event at Clevedon's Marine Lake and Bristol's College Green raises money for the charity SARSAS (Somerset and Avon Rape and Sexual Abuse Support).

The event will take place today, ahead of the singer's birthday on 30 July.

"It's enormous fun learning the dance, it's a real challenge as it's not straightforward, and it's not just for the ladies, we welcome everybody," said organiser Bridget Pairaudeau from Bristol.

The Clevedon event is believed to be the only one where dancers celebrate on land and in the water at the same time.

Last year, the event raised just over £1,000 for SARSAS.

"They were delighted that we danced for them," said Pairaudeau.

Celebrations of the song and mass recreations of the famous dance, which was originally filmed on Salisbury Plain in Wiltshire, have been taking place since 2013.

They have since spread around the UK and the world.

"Who wouldn't be delighted by it?" said Pairaudeau.

"It's a testament to the power of the song and how much it means to people, and the book.

"What a wonderful artist Kate Bush is, it's such an iconic dance, the video is iconic and I really hope she gets some pleasure out of us prancing about," she added.

Jenny Benson from SARSAS said she was "delighted" the organisers were running the dance again.

"Every pound raised will help us continue providing specialist, trauma-informed support to survivors of sexual violence across Avon and Somerset.

"We're incredibly grateful for their support and inspired by their creative fundraising."
