A play area in Loughborough has reopened following a £500,000 upgrade.

Charnwood Borough Council said the Queen's Park play area has been replaced with modern equipment, including a sensory learning area and outdoor gym equipment.

A zip line has also been installed and is due to open in the coming weeks.

Anne Gray, cabinet member for open spaces and leisure facilities at the council, said: "I am delighted that we have been able to invest in improving the play area, which looks fantastic, and I am sure it will be enjoyed for years to come."

The new equipment also includes a "toddler triple mega deck multi-unit", a bespoke four-bay swing, a giant sensory dome and an inclusive wheelchair carousel.

A trampoline, climbing unit and sign language play panel have also been installed.

Gray added: "Children will have a wide range of equipment to use within the park, including accessible and sensory equipment to ensure all children can enjoy the play area.

"I am also pleased to see the other equipment installed which will offer something for all ages. It will be wonderful to see visitors and residents enjoy the award-winning Queen's Park throughout the summer once again."
