Loughborough by the Sea will take place over a week in August

An annual fair bringing a golden beach to landlocked Leicestershire has been extended for the first time.

Loughborough by the Sea, which is usually a weekend event, will now take place in Market Place for a week from 17 August.

The event, organised by Charnwood Borough Council in partnership with Love Loughborough BID and I Need a Fun Fair, will run from 10:00 BST to 16:00 each day.

It will include a funfair and live entertainment, the organisers said.

Jennifer Tillotson, council member for housing, economic development, regeneration and town centres, said: "Loughborough by the Sea has become a popular event in our town centre, bringing families together and creating a fantastic atmosphere for residents and visitors alike.

"By extending the event to a full week this year, we're giving even more people the opportunity to enjoy the attractions, entertainment and seaside fun while supporting our local businesses and market traders."
