Police officers hurt after patrol car rammed repeatedly

Two police officers have been hurt and two men arrested after a car repeatedly rammed a PSNI patrol car in west Belfast.

The incident happened just before midnight on Tuesday, after the officers on patrol saw a silver Nissan Juke driving at high speed on the Glen Road.

Both officers have attended hospital for treatment on Wednesday morning, police said.

One of the men arrested was a 39-year-old who is being held on a number of offences including driving while unfit through drink or drugs and possession of a Class A controlled drug.

Another man, 44, was also arrested on suspicion of possession of a Class A controlled drug, police said.

The PSNI said the two officers signalled to the speeding car to stop when it was seen on the Glen Road.

The car then pulled into a lane along the Ballycolin Road, before ramming the police car "multiple times" in an attempt to force its way back on to the road.

Both men remain in custody.
