Railway line remains closed following derailment
Network RailA freight train derailment will continue to cause "major disruption" on Thursday, National Rail has said.
Because of the damage done to the track and overhead power lines, there will be no trains running between Wolverhampton and Shrewsbury until the end of the day.
Network Rail said rail companies had arranged for bus services to replace the missing trains, and the line between Wolverhampton and Stafford was open but may be subject to some changes to services.
The company confirmed that no one was injured and no other trains were involved when a wagon derailed at Oxley, Wolverhampton, at about 20:30 BST on Tuesday.
Network Rail said the wagon remained upright and it is working with the Rail Accident Investigation Branch to understand the cause of the derailment.
Earlier, it said the line might reopen at 18:00 BST, but later on Thursday morning said it would remain closed all day.
Avanti West Coast said passengers who had their train cancelled could use their ticket on one of the two Avanti West Coast services immediately before or after their intended journey time.
They added that if passengers no longer wished to travel because of a delay or cancellation, they could request a full refund.
Transport for Wales and West Midlands Railway both said there would be rail replacement buses to take their passengers, but warned they would take longer than the equivalent rail service.
