Cavalry horses hit the beach after parade season

Military horses have been deployed for their annual beach training.

The Household Cavalry Mounted Regiment is in Hampshire for a three-week exercise, which includes a trip to Hayling Island.

Spending time in the water and running along the beach is a chance for the horses to train, while also enjoying a break away from their normal base in Hyde Park Barracks, London.

The cavalry is a dual role regiment, where soldiers transition between ceremonial duties and operational deployments.
