Natural History Museum's new storage facility

The Natural History Museum's Science and Digitisation Centre is expected to be completed by the end of the year.

The new facility is based at Thames Valley Science Park in Shinfield, near Reading, and will also include laboratories, public spaces and a broadcast centre.

It'll be home to more than 28 million specimens before they go on display in Kensington or while being used for research purposes.

Alina White, a partner at Feilden Clegg Bradley Studios, said: "It's quite unusual that we've had to design doors wide enough to take a whale's skull to go through, and tall enough to have a giraffe come through, as well."
