International Day of Birmingham 'takes over' council house

An event which celebrates all that Birmingham has to offer has returned for its third year, this time "taking over" the city's council house.

Crowds gathered in Victoria Square on Thursday as the International Day of Birmingham featured brass band performances in the city along with flag raising by iconic mascot, Mr Egg, and a communal chant of 'Alright Bab'.

Around 4,000 'Brummie Passports' were made by artist Stacey Barnfield, given to people as they toured ten rooms of the council house which hosted local businesses and a "fictional museum".

Events celebrating the day continue on Friday with many events including exhibitions from artists, a mini film festival and workshops from local designers.
