Watch: Amur tiger settles in to new home

A young Amur tiger is said to be settling into his new home after a 450-mile (720km) journey.

Named Timur, the two-year-old cub is said to have spent his first few days exploring his new habitat at Banham Zoo in Norfolk, after arriving from Cologne Zoo in Germany in July.

The zoo said it was estimated there were less than 500 Amur tigers left in the wild and Timur joins the zoo as a new companion for Mishka.

The cub is one of a handful of new arrivals, whose number also includes Zoom the Grant's zebra and Inca the tapir.

Ross Snipp, Banham's director, said: "We're thrilled to welcome Timur. His arrival represents an important step in our commitment to the conservation of endangered species and the collaborative work carried out by zoos across Europe."
