New £8.3m bridge progressing at pace, says council

Work to construct an £8.3m bridge across the River Nene in Peterborough has been "progressing at pace", a councillor said.

Cygnet Bridge will link Fletton Quays with the Embankment and is jointly funded by the Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Combined Authority, the government's Towns Fund, and Peterborough City Council.

Construction work began on the footbridge in June and is expected to be completed in March next year.

Angus Ellis, the council's Labour cabinet member for transport, said with some parts of the bridge now in place, the scheme had reached a "significant milestone", and added: "Cygnet Bridge here in Peterborough is really at a pace and we're about halfway through the whole project."
