Boat damaged in paddle steamer crush

A boat has been damaged in a crush with the world's last seagoing paddle steamer.

Waverley Excursions said the paddle steamer was being assisted by local work boats to help it berth in Torquay Harbour, in Devon, on Thursday.

It said "the small work boat at the stern of Waverley was damaged as seen in the footage".

Torbay Council said a harbour authority boat was damaged and "winds caused PS Waverley to move away from the berth, and while assisting the vessel alongside, the workboat was briefly pushed against Princess Pier". Waverley Excursions added no-one was injured and the paddle steamer suffered no damage and it continued to Weymouth.
