Manchester bomb disposal team called over 'suspicious items'

A bomb squad was called in and homes evacuated after "suspicious items" were found at a building in Manchester.

Officers were first called to Chester Road, Old Trafford, after midnight amid reports of a man making threats.

About 40 nearby apartments were evacuated and pupils were sent home from Old Trafford Community School.

A bomb disposal team has since declared the area safe. A man in his 20s has been arrested on suspicion of a public order offence.
