Island Unlimited said the San Pawl was able to safely run into Alderney

A ferry firm has said trials to test whether one of its passenger vessels could berth in Alderney had been successful.

Islands Unlimited carried out the berthing trials in Braye Harbour on Wednesday to test whether the San Pawl could cope with the journey.

The company said the trials gave it "strong confidence" it would be able to include the island in its wider network and it was "a step forward" towards improving inter-island connectivity.

"This has been a very positive and productive day," an Islands Unlimited spokesperson said.

They continued: "The successful berthing trial confirms that San Pawl is capable of safely operating passenger services into Alderney.

"It is an exciting development as we continue exploring ways to strengthen inter-island transport links across the Bailiwick."
