A man has admitted killing a "loving" grandfather who was found unconscious in a park in Leicester.

James McKeown, 62, also known as Jimmy, died in hospital after he was found injured in Beaumont Leys Park on 6 April, Leicestershire Police said.

Appearing at Leicester Crown Court on Thursday, Joshua Moore, 33, of Fowler Close, Beaumont Leys, pleaded guilty to manslaughter.

Sentencing was adjourned to 31 July.

McKeown's family said in a statement shortly after his death: "We have lost a loving father, brother, partner and grandfather, our lives will never be the same again.

"Jimmy has lived locally for nearly 20 years and was well known in the community, affectionately known to many as Spider."
