Twenty houses in a quiet street were evacuated after a bomb disposal team was called to deal with a "suspicious item".

A resident found it in their front garden in Abram Close in Fallowfield, Manchester, just after 18:00 BST on Saturday.

Greater Manchester Police said the team advised officers to evacuate as a precaution.

Residents were allowed back home just before midnight and investigations into the item continue.

Shortly after 16:00 BST on Sunday, Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service confirmed it had returned to the scene with police to investigate further.

GMP has been approached for comment.
