Police close major road after crash involving bus

Police closed a county's key road in both directions after a "serious" two-vehicle crash involving a bus.

The A358 has reopened after being shut in both directions between Stony Head and Thornfalcon after the crash on the Mattocks Tree Hill.

Avon and Somerset Police urged drivers to avoid the road, which is the main route between south Somerset and Taunton, and find alternative routes.

First Bus said the crash involved its number 30 service heading towards Axminster, and one of its passengers was treated onboard my paramedics for minor injuries.

It added no one needed hospital treatment.

The spokesperson said: "We are conducting a full investigation into the circumstances of the incident and are fully supporting the police with their enquiries."

The road was closed between the junction with the A378 (Thornfalcon traffic lights) and the junction with Lipe Lane/Stoke Road.
