Two men arrested on suspicion of rape

Two men have been arrested on suspicion of rape in Cornwall.

A "serious sexual assault" happened in the Mount Wise area of Newquay late on Monday evening.

Det Insp Steve Applewhite, of Devon and Cornwall Police, said a forensic examination had taken place of the scene and specialist officers were supporting the victim.

Police said the arrested men, aged in their 20s, were "local" and had been released on police bail while inquiries continued. Applewhite urged anyone in the area at the time who may have seen or heard anything of note to contact police.
