A murder investigation has been launched following the death of a man two years after he was attacked.

Ramon Logan was assaulted on a night out in Oldham in July 2024 and died on 30 June this year, Greater Manchester Police (GMP) said.

The 42-year-old's wife Charlotte said he had "never stopped fighting to get better over the last two years".

A police spokesman said a Home Office post-mortem examination had been carried out.

In a statement announcing his death, Logan's family described him as "a loving husband, father, son, brother, and friend to many [who] will be missed immensely by everyone who knew him".

The statement added: "Ray was a part of so many people's lives, and as much as we all have our existing memories to remember him by, it is heart-breaking that we won't get to make any new ones."

The statement added: "Ray never stopped fighting to get better for the last two years, all we can wish for now is that he gets the justice he deserves."

Det Insp Andy Day said: "We know how difficult and painful the last two years have been for Ramon's family, and we are continuing to support them following his death last week.

"We have now launched a murder investigation, and are keeping his family updated as we progress our enquiries.

We are assessing all available material and will be making further reviews in due course."

Sebastian Jones, 38, of Dickens Street, Oldham, was jailed for seven years on 17 April 2025 for grievous bodily harm against Logan.

Police said he launched a violent attack on Logan about 04:00 BST 15 July 2024, punching him to the ground where he continued to attack him.

GMP added that no arrests had yet been made in connection with the murder investigation.
