Norfolk Police said a man in his 20s was taken to hospital with serious injuries

A man has been arrested after a pedestrian was struck by a car in Norwich city centre, leaving him critically ill in hospital.

Norfolk Police said a man in his 20s was hit by a Hyundai Kona close to where Prince of Wales Road meets Agricultural Hall Plain, at 07:45 BST.

Officers arrested a man, in his 40s, on suspicion of drug driving and causing serious injury by careless driving.

He has been taken to Wymondham Police Investigation Centre for questioning. Police said the injured man was in a stable condition and appealed for any witnesses to the crash to get in touch.
