A driver has been charged after a car crashed into a wall at a house in Buxton following a police pursuit.

Derbyshire Police said officers caught up with the vehicle in Aspen Close at about 11:10 BST on Sunday after earlier failing to stop.

Daniel Oliver, 31, of Sherwood Road, Buxton, has been charged with failing to stop, driving without insurance and while disqualified, and was due to appear at Chesterfield Magistrates' Court on Monday.

Police said no injuries were reported and further investigations were ongoing.

The force said two men left the car after the crash in an attempt to evade police but were later detained.

A member of the public assisted in detaining one of the men.

Police added that a search of the car found what was suspected to be Class A drugs.

Investigations were under way into further offences for which both men have been bailed, the force said.
