Arrest after woman dies following crash
GoogleA man has been arrested after a woman in her 60s died following a crash involving a pick-up truck and a car in Leicestershire.
Leicestershire Police said it was called to the A607 Leicester Road near Kirby Bellars at 10:45 BST on Wednesday after receiving a report of a crash involving a blue Volkswagen Amarok pickup and a blue Hyundai i10.
The force said the driver of the Hyundai - a woman in her 60s - was taken to hospital but died a short time later.
A 65-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and driving while unfit through drink or drugs and remains in custody.
A passenger in the Hyundai, a woman in her 30s, was taken to hospital for injuries that were not believed to be life-threatening, police added, and a road closure remains in place.
The force has appealed for witnesses and dashcam footage.
