Police are investigating the death of a man in his 70s who was allegedly attacked at a care home.

Paramedics were called to The Dell Care Home in Lowestoft on Thursday to reports a resident had become unwell following an assault, Suffolk Police said.

The force said the victim died at the scene and it was treating the case as a manslaughter investigation, while working closely with other agencies and the care home to establish the full circumstances.

An 81-year-old man was arrested in connection with the incident and has been bailed to return to police on 5 October.

A Home Office post-mortem examination is due to take place, police added.
