Cafe plans for former clock repair shop approved
GoogleThe change of use of an Ashbourne building which was last occupied by a clock and watch repair shop has been given the go-ahead.
R A James, which traded from the premises at 48 St John Street for more than 30 years, closed in December 2025.
In May this year, applicant Andy Rossi sought permission from Derbyshire Dales District Council to turn the premises into a mixed-use cafe, wine shop and wine bar, trading under the name Sip Coffee and Wine.
The local authority granted the proposal on Wednesday under the condition that development must begin within three years.
Planning documents submitted to the council said that the business would be open for five days a week.
