Wreaths have been laid at the cenotaph at Hull to mark the 82nd anniversary of D-Day.

Prayers were read and the Last Post was also played at a service to commemorate the event.

D-Day, which took place on 6 June 1944 was the largest seaborne invasion in history and began the liberation of France from Nazi Germany.

David Barrowclough, from Hull branch of the Royal British Legion, said: "So many went from Hull - some came back, some never did."

Barrowclough said everybody was remembered.

"There's not many veterans left now and it's good to remember what they did for us", he added.
