A teenager has pleaded not guilty to the murder of a 15-year-old boy who was fatally stabbed in north-east London.

Brayan David Saldarriaga was found with stab wounds in Poplar Close, Hackney, at about 19:15 BST on 25 May.

Police had been called to reports of a large gathering and disorder nearby and Brayan was pronounced dead at the scene.

The 17-year-old boy, who cannot be named because of his age, denied murder during a hearing at the Old Bailey.

He also pleaded not guilty to possessing an offensive weapon, namely a machete.

His co-defendant Conneil Mvudi, 18, from Hackney, was not asked to enter a plea to a charge of murder and possessing an offensive weapon.

The pair, who are in custody, appeared in court via video-link and spoke only to confirm their identity.

They will next appear at court on 29 October.

Their trial was fixed for 1 March 2027.
