A North Yorkshire drug dealer, who police described as "persistent", has been jailed for more than five years.

Ronnie Collins, 21, based his operation out of the market town of Malton, just west of Scarborough, from where he dealt both cocaine and cannabis.

He was sentenced at York Crown Court on Tuesday after pleading guilty to multiple drug charges, including two counts of possession with intent to supply cocaine and two counts of possession with intent to supply cannabis.

Collins was jailed for five years and three months.

PC Rebecca Davison said that despite "repeated police action" against Collins, the 21-year-old continued to be a "persistent" drug dealer in the Scarborough and Ryedale areas.

She added: "I'm delighted with the significant prison sentence that has been handed to him. It reflects the seriousness nature of his offending and the harm his illicit activities have caused in our communities."
