Aberdeen leisure operator investigated by charity regulator
Getty ImagesSport Aberdeen has been placed under formal investigation by Scotland's charity regulator.
The leisure operator, which runs more than 30 indoor and outdoor sports venues in the city, said it would "co-operate fully".
The Office of the Scottish Charity Regulator (OSCR) said there was concern about the operator last month.
Sport Aberdeen receives millions of pounds in annual funding from Aberdeen City Council.
Two council officers, Gale Beattie and Martin Murchie, joined its board last week in order to ensure it had enough directors to meet legal requirements.
It comes after the organisation's former chief executive, Keith Heslop, was replaced in November and other directors also left.
Sport Aberdeen said the new appointments would support it in continuing to "deliver high quality sport and leisure services in the city".
An OSCR spokesperson said: "Following assessment of concerns received about Sport Aberdeen, we have opened an inquiry into the charity."
Sport Aberdeen chairman Tony Dawson said: "We will co-operate fully with the OSCR inquiry."
Aberdeen City Council declined to comment.
