A 34-year-old man has been arrested after explosive materials were found at a house.

Lancashire Police said it found a "quantity of items of concern", including commercial fireworks, at the house in Tag Croft in Ingol, Preston, just after midday on Saturday.

The force said although the explosives were "commercially available" they were "of concern" when together.

Police said the arrested man, who is a white British male, was held under the Explosives Act, adding that the incident was not being treated as terrorism-related and the street was not evacuated.

Chief Supt Chris Hardy said: "I want to thank any residents who have been affected for their support and cooperation while we went about our work.

"We appreciate that hearing about this this will be concerning for the local community, but we want to reassure all residents we acted swiftly on the information we received and we worked extremely hard bring this matter to a swift conclusion."
