A £61m redevelopment project in Wolverhampton has been nominated for an award.

The City Learning Quarter (CLQ) is made up of a new City of Wolverhampton College campus, alongside ongoing improvements to the neighbouring Adult Education Wolverhampton and Central Library facilities.

The project, which the city council said "marked the dawn of a new era for educational provision in the city", has been shortlisted for a Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors West Midlands award.

The announcement was recognition of all the hard work and commitment by the council, college and partners, council leader Stephen Simkins said.

The campus opened in November and offers A-levels in a range of subjects and vocational qualifications including art, design and photography, business and management.

The development is the second phase of the City Learning Quarter plan, following the new £8.1m Advanced Technology and Automotive Centre in Wellington Road, which opened to students in 2024.

Louise Fall, college principal and chief executive, welcomed the nomination and said they were "extremely proud" of the building.

The winner will be announced at a ceremony in Birmingham on 26 June and will progress to the UK Grand Final.
