School's Golden Jubilee to be marked with events
BBCStaff, pupils and alumni are set to celebrate a school's 50th anniversary with a range of events.
La Houguette Primary School opened on 19 November 1976 to serve St Pierre du Bois, St Saviour and Torteval.
Headteacher Claire Judd described the Golden Jubilee year as "an extraordinarily proud moment for everyone" connected with the school.
Celebrations will begin with a Bonfire Night party in the school grounds on 6 November and further events and activities are to be announced throughout the year.
Judd said: "While we are immensely proud of our rich heritage - from our wonderful nature reserve to our historical classroom bunker - our greatest strength has always been our vibrant school community."
Chair of the board of governors Stuart Jehan said the milestone "fills us all with immense pride".
He said: "For five decades, the school has been much more than a place of learning.
"It has been an important part of the community in the western parishes, educating generations of islanders."
Former pupils, teachers and those connected with the school have been invited to contribute to a 50th anniversary memory book by sharing photographs and memories.
