Serious crash closes A5 between Weedon and Kilsby

The A5 has been closed in both directions between Weedon and Kilsby, Northamptonshire, following a serious collision involving two cars.

Police said it happened at about 06:00 BST, at Watling Street, and it was in attendance, along with the fire service.

It said a white Kia Sportage and a black BMW X5 collided and the Kia driver was taken to hospital with suspected life-threatening injuries.

National Highways said it was assisting traffic management and due to "collision investigation work and the road is expected to remain closed for several hours".

Motorists have been advised to find alternative routes.

The forced asked for anyone who witnessed the crash, or who has CCTV, doorbell, or dashcam footage, to get in touch.
