Road restrictions for NCP car park demolition

Traffic restrictions will be in force from Monday as part of the demolition of a multi-storey car park in Nottingham.

Vehicles travelling in both directions will use the northbound side of Maid Marian Way.

The restrictions are part of the demolition of the former NCP car park and the wider redevelopment of the Broad Marsh area of the city.

Homes England, the government's housing and regeneration agency, bought the site last year with plans to turn it into about 1,000 homes, alongside up to 20,000 sq m (215,000 sq ft) of retail, office and community space.

As part of the works, Greyfriar Gate and Albion Street will close.

While demolition is happening, traffic cannot pass beside or beneath the former car park, which is why diversions will be in place.

Homes England said: "This layout is likely to stay in place until late October/November and will depend on the progress of the demolition process.

"After that, traffic moves to the southbound side while the rest of the car park comes down."

It warned drivers to "expect slower journeys and some disruption, particularly at peak times".
