Arrests after stolen cabling seized from lorry
Nottinghamshire PoliceFour men have been arrested on suspicion of theft after a lorry believed to contain stolen cabling was stopped by police.
Nottinghamshire Police said officers were called in the early hours of Wednesday morning after cabling was reported stolen from a site near Northampton.
The force said a "suspicious truck" was identified shortly before 03:45 BST and followed as it made its way north towards Nottinghamshire.
Shortly after 05:00, police used a stinger device to stop the lorry as it left the A46 and joined the A606 in south Nottinghamshire.
Police said after initially failing to stop, the driver pulled over and fled the scene along with three others.
A spokesperson said three of the men were detained by armed response officers, whilst a fourth was later arrested with the help of a police dog.
The four men, 36, 33, 30 and 29, were arrested on suspicion of theft and driving offences, and have since been released on police bail pending further inquiries.
The truck and its contents were seized.
