Security guard acquitted over man's death outside shop
BBCA security guard jailed for the manslaughter of an alleged shoplifter has been acquitted after a retrial.
Sabeur Trabelsi, 48, was sentenced to six years after a trial in 2023 heard 51-year-old Jason Page hit his head on the ground after being chased from a Marks & Spencer in Lower Earley, Berkshire, in 2021.
Page died in hospital the following day and Trabelsi was convicted at Reading Crown Court of manslaughter and perverting the course of justice.
But his sentence was quashed by the Court of Appeal in July 2025, and he was acquitted after a retrial at Winchester Crown Court on Thursday.
Thames Valley Police said the force was not seeking anybody else in connection with the death and that its "thoughts remain with the family and friends of Jason Page".
