Crews are scaling back a large fire involving two industrial buildings at a business park in West Sussex, which also saw a dog day care centre evacuated.

West Sussex Fire and Rescue Service (WSFRS) received the first of around 50 emergency calls at 16:24 BST on Thursday, alerting the service to a blaze at Lancing Business Park in Chartwell Road.

There were six fire engines, a water carrier and aerial ladder platform at the scene at the height of the incident, WSFRS said.

As of 20:30 BST, the service was still advising residents living nearby to avoid the area and keep their doors and windows closed.

Large fire breaks out at business park

The Little Doggy Day Care Sussex, which operates out of the business park, took to Facebook to thank the "firemen and fire women who help[ed] evacuate The Little Doggy Daycare".

They added: "Thank the heavens we practiced fire evacuations, even though we have never had a fire, tonight it came in to good use and I have to say our pups were amazing."
