Three young brothers who love bin lorries have been given a behind-the-scenes experience of a recycling depot.

Arthur, nine; Henry, six; and Oscar, three, all from Ipswich, wrote to East Suffolk Services to share their passion.

Touched by their enthusiasm, the firm invited the brothers down to its Ufford depot, where they were given a ride in a bin lorry.

Arthur and Henry told BBC Radio Suffolk's Wayne Bavin it was something they had never expected after penning their letter.

"It was very exciting," said Arthur.

"We drove in. They were all waiting for us, which was very nice.

"They brought one of the bin lorries around the side. We got to sit in, look at all of the controls and then have a tour around the vehicle.

"Then we had a drive in it around the depot."

Asked what was the best part of the day, Henry said: "I liked when we got our East Suffolk Services cap, our high-vis, our woolly hats and note pads."

During their visit, the boys bonded with managing director Cassandra Clements over a mutual love of building bin lorries from Lego.

"It was an absolute pleasure to host the boys and their parents and to give them a guided tour," said Clements

"Seeing their excitement made it a really special day for everyone involved."

Their mum Laura said the boys had written the initial letter to East Suffolk Services by themselves with no help from her.

Asked where their love for bin lorries had come from, she said: "They've always loved them and because it's three of them, they've encouraged each other.

"I think with bin lorries the crews are always there; they always wave and chat to you. They just love them."
