The M6 in Staffordshire was closed in both directions for more than an hour on Monday evening while police dealt with an incident.

National Highways said it affected a section of the motorway between junction 14 for Creswell and 15 for Hanchurch, reporting the issue shortly before 20:00 BST.

It added police attended the scene and diversions were put in place, with queues of up to 40 minutes, although some people on social media complained of longer waits.

The road was cleared before 21:00 BST, but motorists were warned that traffic could be slow while the build up cleared.
