Man arrested after 'unexplained' death in street
BBC/Chloe LaversuchA man has been arrested following the "unexplained" death of a man in a street in York, police have said.
Officers were called to Brownlow Street shortly after 04:00 BST on Friday after the ambulance service requested assistance.
The man in his 50s suffered a cardiac arrest and was treated by paramedics, but died at the scene about 30 minutes later.
A 56-year-old man was arrested in connection with the incident and remained in police custody, North Yorkshire Police said.
A force spokesperson said detectives believed an incident in the area at about 02:00 BST could be relevant to the investigation.
BBC/Chloe LaversuchSupt Ed Haywood-Noble said officers would maintain "a visible presence in the area" while the investigation continued.
He added: "We understand this incident will have caused concern within the local community, however, at this stage we believe it to be an isolated event.
"As inquiries are at an early stage, we would urge people not to speculate or comment online."
Police have appealed for anyone with information, including doorbell, dashcam or private CCTV footage, to come forward.
The force said the man's next of kin had been informed.
