Plans to improve slipway after winter storm damage
BBCA slipway that was damaged during a storm in January could be improved if plans are approved by the states.
Guernsey was hit by severe wind speeds of 95mph (154km/h) during Storm Goretti, with thousands of trees lost and damage to properties.
Alongside repairs, the Infrastructure and Environment (I&E) department said its planning application for La Vallette south slipway, by the children's pool, included building new steps down to beach level and removing the end of the slipway.
I&E officer Marco Tersigni said the works would create a safer route for islanders and would enhance Guernsey's coastal defence.
He said: "Guernsey's coast is always vulnerable to damage from the sea, and so it's important for us to remain proactive in maintaining and enhancing our island's coastal defence.
"While these works are needed following the damage from Storm Goretti earlier this year, the proposed new steps will create a safer and more convenient route between the promenade and the beach."
