Woman denies harassing councillor online
PA MediaA woman has pleaded not guilty to harassing a councillor on Facebook.
Roma Frisby, of Dalby Road in Melton Mowbray, Leicestershire, appeared at Leicester Magistrates' Court on Wednesday charged with harassment without violence.
Court documents allege Frisby, 47, pursued a course of conduct amounting to harassment of Leigh Higgins, who serves as a councillor at Melton Borough Council.
Higgins, an independent member, has represented the Somerby ward since 2015, reports the Local Democracy Reporting Service (LDRS).
It is alleged the defendant sent him "multiple messages" of a "threatening nature" over Facebook Messenger.
Following a not guilty plea, a one-day trial has been set for Friday 4 December at Loughborough Magistrates' Court.
Frisby is on bail under the conditions she does not contact Higgins or comment on social media sites involving members of the council.
