Injured adventurers saved by mountain rescue team

Mountain rescuers in the Peak District were called to two emergencies in the space of an hour at the weekend.

Edale Mountain Rescue Team said the ambulance service asked for its assistance at Burbage Valley at 16:19 BST on Sunday after a boulderer suffered a head injury in a fall.

The climber was given medical treatment at the scene before being moved to an ambulance and taken to hospital.

Then at 17:15, the team was called to Hooks Carr at Stanage Edge where a walker had suffered a medical episode and collapsed on the track just below the edge.

Rescuers stabilised the walker before using a stretcher to carry them to a waiting ambulance nearby.

The team said it had dealt with more than 100 call-outs since the start of the year.
