Suspended nurse struck off after no improvement
PA MediaA nurse who was suspended for putting patients at risk has been struck off the medical register.
Nimmy George worked as an adult nurse at a Cumbrian hospital for nine months, starting in December 2021, before she was referred to the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC).
An NMC panel ruled George should be suspended in August 2024, after finding she handled medication poorly and failed to attend to a dead patient appropriately.
The NMC has now ruled she should be banned from the job because she has not engaged with the body since her suspension.
It said: "The only sanction that would adequately protect the public and serve the public interest was a striking-off order."
During her time working for the North Cumbria Acute Hospital NHS Trust, George was previously said to have behaved inappropriately when a patient died, saying in a loud voice "it's my observation that the patient in bed five is dead" and failing to cover the patient and pull the curtain around their bed.
She was also heard saying she could kill someone in the hospital but still get a job in her home country.
Other findings by the NMC panel included a lack of knowledge about medicines, failing to pay attention to colleagues during handover, take proper medical notes, check medical records, check patients' identities, and mixing up different patients' medical notes.
North Cumbria Integrated Care NHS Trust (NCIC) took over from the trust that employed George and at the time of her suspension said the nurse was dismissed after failing to meet the required standards during probation.
