Prospective candidates were told to submit a nomination form between Monday 20 April and Wednesday 22 April

The nomination period has ended for candidates wanting to stand in Jersey's general election.

Voters will elect a new States Assembly on Sunday 7 June 2026.

Prospective candidates needed to get a nomination form signed by 10 other people and have it submitted at Morier House in St Helier by 17:00 BST.

The full list of candidates is due to be announced on Monday 27 April, the States Greffe said.

Each candidate will be seeking one of the 49 seats available in Jersey's States Assembly.

Following changes to the electoral system, during the next political term there will be three different types of elected politician:

  • Deputies - 28 will represent one of the island's nine voting districts
  • Constables - 12 will represent one of the island's 12 parishes
  • Senators - nine will represent the island as a whole and are elected by all voters

Since 1 October 2025, each elected politician has been paid an annual salary of £59,874.72, with no separate amount provided for expenses.

Successful candidates will serve a four-year term, with the next election expected to be held in summer 2030.
