Water play areas to open in city parks for summer
Hull City CouncilSplash pads in three Hull parks will be open from this weekend.
The water features in West Park, Alderman Kneeshaw Park and Bude Road Park will open at weekends, bank holidays and during school holidays until 31 August, unless the temperature drops below 16C, Hull City Council said.
Paddling pools in Oak Road, Ings Road and West Park will open for the summer school holidays from 18 July until the end of August.
The council added that repairs to the water play area in East Park and a new paddling pool being built in Pickering Park should be ready by the start of the school summer holidays.
The water play area at Pickering Park has been closed since 2023 and is undergoing a £550,000 redevelopment which has been delayed.
Council leader Mike Ross, said: "Our parks are at the heart of our communities, and nothing signals the start of summer quite like the splashing of our water play features.
"By opening these across the city in time for the half-term holidays, we're providing a free, safe, and exciting way for families to enjoy the hot weather it's looking likely that we're getting."
The splash boat in East Park will be operational during weekends, bank holidays and school holidays, the council said.
The Grade II-listed water ride opened in 1929 and is one of only three left in the UK.
