Skeletal remains found at former car park site
BBCSkeletal remains, thought to be human, have been found on a construction site in Staffordshire.
A police cordon has been put in place around part of The Midway - a former car park - in Newcastle-under-Lyme while officers investigate.
The Staffordshire force said it was alerted at about 13:35 BST on Wednesday.
Developer Capital & Centric is currently turning the 1960s multi-storey car park site into 111 flats.
The firm has described the scheme as the first of its kind in the UK, and says once completed the development will also include a social hub with a gym and mini-cinema.

It is one of the three main regeneration projects currently taking shape in Newcastle-under-Lyme, and along with schemes at the Ryecroft and York Place is set to bring a total of 330 new homes.
The Midway, which had been described as "ageing and outdated", has effectively been replaced by the new Castle Car Park, which opened in January 2025.
