A sex offender who repeatedly hit his victim over the head with a wine bottle on a train has been jailed.

Zakaria Mohammed, 32, of West Drayton, admitted sexually assaulting the man he cornered at a table as the train reached Reading station at about 08:30 BST on 24 May 2025.

Mohammed's victim asked him to move so he could leave but he refused. He had to crawl under the table to escape and was repeatedly struck by the bottle, which caused heavy bleeding.

Mohammed, who also admitted causing actual bodily harm, false imprisonment and breaching the conditions of a previous sexual harm prevention order (SHPO), was jailed for 20 months at Reading Crown Court.

Det Con Lauren Pace, from British Transport Police, said Mohammed carried out a "truly sickening assault" on the man, who was left "understandably terrified".

Mohammed was also made the subject of a 10-year SHPO and must pay a victim surcharge of £187 following the hearing on 19 May.
