A motorbike rider has died after coming off his bike at a motocross track in South Yorkshire.

The 36-year-old man was pronounced dead after being seriously injured in the incident at Uncle Eddie's Motor Track, in Bentley Moor Lane, Doncaster at about 10:20 BST on Sunday.

South Yorkshire Police said the man's family had been informed and were being supported by specially trained officers.

In a statement posted on the track's Facebook page, director Eddie Todd said he was "deeply saddened by the tragic accident", adding: "Our hearts go out to the family, friends, and loved ones of the rider who lost his life."

Todd went on to say: "This is an incredibly difficult time for everyone involved, and we extend our sincere condolences to all who are grieving.

"The motocross community is like a family, and this loss is felt by us all."

A police spokesperson said an investigation into the incident remained open and urged anyone with information to get in touch.
