Third day of water disruption in Kent and Sussex
Simon Jones/BBCWater supply issues in Kent and Sussex have continued for a third day as temperatures continue to soar.
South East Water customers in three Kent villages - Charing, Challock and Molash - began facing disruption on Saturday morning, with issues peaking on Sunday with about 800 homes affected.
It said in an update just after 13:00 on Monday that water or pressure had been restored to the three villages.
A water company spokesperson previously said it had struggled to pump water to higher ground due to "increased demand for drinking water in the hot weather".
Incident manager Steve Benton said earlier that the issues were thought to have affected about 250 homes, with further problems in Broomfield Gate and Whitstable overnight.
Some 500 homes were thought to be impacted in total across Kent and East Sussex.
Other villages across Kent reportedly facing issues include Anvil Green, Waltham and Elmsted.
'Increased demand'
Challock resident Robert Frampton-Fell said water outages "impacted life quite considerably".
"It is not just drinking water - the worst of it is having to use the toilet."
He told BBC Radio Kent he did not think South East Water would be able to resolve the water supply issues the area has faced.
"It seems to me there has not been the necessary reinvestment in what needs to be done", he said.
About 168 homes were also thought to be affected by outages in Eastbourne, East Sussex, on Sunday afternoon.
Temperatures recorded in parts of Kent on Saturday made it the hottest day of the year so far, according to the Met Office.
Bottled water stations remain open in Challock for those affected.
Benton added: "We're working hard to maintain supplies to customers across our network as the hot weather and increased demand for drinking water continues.
"Some customers on higher ground may, however, experience low water pressure or intermittent supply at peak times."
